Camp Wilderness

My baby is growing up. Last Sunday, June 20th he left for his first true Cub Scouts Camp. He left on Sunday and did not come back until Wednesday. It was a true test for everyone for all different reasons. Here are the photos he took and his story to go along with it. Enjoy!!

This is the sign in front of camp.

This sign is the beginning of the nature trail. We had a scavenger hunt to find things that didn't belong along the trail. There are photos of some of the things coming up later.

Scheels Tower is where I stayed. We slept on mattresses on the floor. We would also come back here to take a break and catch our breathe. There were only 6 scouts and 2 adults that stayed here together.
This is a side view of our cabin.

This is the area that we had our flag ceremony. The flag was on the right high pole. We also played soccer, football, and kickball in the open space.

The Trading Post is where we would eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We could also lounge outside. In the front of this building is where we could shower and visit the gift store. I even brought gifts home for my sister and brother and Jaylen.

Jones Tower is where they held our medicine. If we needed any care this is where we would go. The staff of the Camp slepted upstairs.

Here is me and my new buddy Zach. He and I became my friends right away. He controlled the BB Gun and Archery Ranges. I like him becasue he was friendly, kind, and funny.

I took this picture to make my family jealous with what I was eating when I was there. We had this one day, pancakes another, and cereal everyday. Our lunches were good too.

In this photo we are all waiting to go on the boats. I got to go in a tandem canoe, which was a first for me. A tandem canoe is two canoes that are connected by two big pieces of wood which hold the canoes together. I went in with 3 other people and it was super hard to paddle. My paddle kept getting stuck in the wood.

These tubes are on the way to the water to help store all of our belongings.

This is our buddy chart. The circles have our names on them and tells the instructor which swimming group we were in from non-swimmers to swimmers.

I took this picture by myself! Pretty good Auntie Jen right?

Life size Foose Ball. Multiple people share a tube in which they work together to move the tube to the ball. About 15 people can play at a time I think. It was a lot of fun.

The volleyball court.

Here I am shooting BB guns. I was pretty good at it.

Here I am at the Archery Range.

Here is the start of our Nature Trail Scavenger Hunt pictures.
The next few photos are of things we needed to find on the trail.

A red shield

A white/blue-striped seahorse

a red bandanna

an orange shark

a toy horse

a pink flamingo

a pocket fan

a Wanted Sign for Old Man Jensen

a Blue Jay nest

I found the golden flamingo that controls the weather. Because I found it I was able to keep it all day until the campfire at 10:00. I had to go up in front of everyone to give the golden flamingo back.

Here Tony is cooking our HOBO meals for super on the closing campfire night.

In the HOBO meal was lettuce, with a burger on top of it, mustard, potatoes, and carrots. I thought this meal was delicious.
I brought home a Camp Wilderness Boomerang for Jaylen and a airplane for Gracie. I missed my family very much, but had a lot of fun.

Mom had to take a photo of me with some of the things that I brought home with me.
While I was at camp I learned how to build a fire and how to make many crafts. We also learned about stars, animals, and plants. My friends and I earned a few patches and I worked hard to earn the Duty to God Patch. I had to say a prayer in front of the entire camp before breakfast.
I had a lot of fun at this camp and if there are any Bears that read this I encourage you to go to
camp. You may miss your family a little, but it is worth it.
Thank you Russell and Michelle for being our chaperones for the week.
